Why Employee Award Programs Fail—Don’t Use Probability

When your program is based on chance, it is less likely to produce the continuous behavior change you are seeking. No one really likes a program where they do what they are told to do, accomplish their objectives and improve their performance, and only get a chance at earning something.  Avoid these types of program rules wherever possible.  These types of programs are often negative and can produce negative results.  While you may receive some positive short-term results, they rarely have long-term affect.
